Greece is famous for agricultural products like watermelons, melons and zucchinis. These products are sensitive to adverse weather conditions, pests and weeds.
Eurofilm has a special series of agricultural films, such as mulch and heatproof films that protect plants and accelerate their maturation process, as well as ground covers that are used for pest and weed control.
Agricultural films are widely used by farmers in Greece and abroad. Mulch films can be easily applied creating a mini greenhouse, where sensitive plants like watermelons can safely grow. Transparent or coloured heatproof films are used to retain heat and reflect harmful UVA and UVB solar radiation protecting plants from overheating.
Mulch and heatproof films are permeable in order to improve aeration and irrigation of the soil, and are used 4 to 5 weeks depending on crop type and weather conditions.
Ground covers are used for protecting plants from weeds and pests and for heating the soil. They are extensively used in crops as a biological herbicide. Usually ground covers are opaque black and impermeable preventing the growth of infesting weeds. Using agricultural films is an environment friendly and cost efficient solution, since plants need less herbicide and pesticide spraying.
